It is a medieval village that belongs to the province of Frosinone and which can be the ideal place to spend a pleasant trip out of town, surrounded by green nature and away from the chaos. Near Rome Trivigliano is located.
Rome hides many treasures, but certainly its surroundings are also worth a visit. Sometimes it is enough to simply take the car and travel a few kilometers to discover enchanting places, far from the chaos of the city and in close contact with nature.
For example, just move to Ciociaria and go to Trivigliano, a small fairytale-like village. It houses only 2000 inhabitants but the atmosphere it emanates is truly suggestive.
Strolling through its squares and crossing its alleys is like entering a storybook. The views that can be observed from its terraces are truly enchanting. They all overlook Lake Canterno or the mountains surrounding Trivigliano. A real feast for the eyes.
Trivigliano ha delle origini molto antiche che sembrano risalire ai tempi del Medioevo. Pare infatti che le prime testimonianze di questo storico borgo risalgano al ‘900 e che prima di allora Trivigliano fosse un piccolo nucleo abitato, protetto da un recinto.
Le mura che proteggono la suggestiva borgata sembra infatti siano state costruite solamente dopo l’anno mille, con lo scopo di proteggere Trivigliano da eventuali attacchi. Insieme alle mura erano state poi costruite tre grandi torri, che sembra abbiano poi dato l’attuale nome al borgo.
Trivigliano deriva infatti dalle parole “Tris vigilantes”, ovvero “tre vigilanti” e da secoli porta sul suo stemma il disegno di tre torri, che oggi sono il simbolo del borgo.
Al suo interno conserva poi delle strutture che sono come dei scrigni contenenti delle prestigiose opere d’arte. Basta pensare alla Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta, che custodisce dei quadri del ‘700, oppure alla Chiesa di Santa Oliva, che oltre ad avere dei bellissimi affreschi, fa da custode alle spoglie della Santa patrona del borgo.
Per i più fedeli si tratta quindi di un importante luogo di silenzio e preghiera, dall’atmosfera mistica.
Once the walk in Trivigliano is finished, all that remains is to explore its surroundings, perfect for spending some pleasant moments in the heart of nature.
For example, near the hamlet there is Lake Canterno, which unfortunately is not suitable for swimming. However it is a great place to go fishing, or just to walk on its banks.
Not to be missed is an excursion to Monte Corniano and its cave. It is an enchanting place to say the least, full of stalactites and stalagmites. The perfect place to feel some cool air in the beauty of the cave.
